don’t Flash me with that Quark in your Acrobat!

So my wife and I just purchased the fifth season of The Office. We are both huge fans of the show and we officially own all the seasons there are to own. While we were enjoying all our favorite episodes from season 5, I caught this gem of a dialog from episode 7.

Pam: I just talked to my advisor. [I’m] failing!

Jim: Wow, I thought you were good at Flash.

Pam: I was… then they switched to Acrobat just as I was learning Quark.

This is one crazy class!  I don’t remember any class that taught both animation / interactivity via Flash AND print design.  Nor have I ever heard of replacing Acrobat for Quark (at least not on any professional level).

I took the liberty to rewrite this scene. Here is my version.  This makes me feel a little better….

Pam: I just talked to my advisor. [I’m] failing!

Jim: Wow, I thought you were good at Quark.

Pam: I was… then they switched to InDesign just as I was learning Quark.

Jim: That’s unfortunate. I am really sorry to hear that. Although… they really should have been teaching you both.

Pam: I have to stay and take the class over again.
